Adult Intensive Outpatient Program
- Dual DiagnosisPhilosophy of Treatment
The foundation of Two Rivers' treatment philosophy is that recovery begins with abstinence. Continued recovery is maintained through one's commitment to an ongoing program, including counseling, participation in AA/NA and social support. Treatment Plans will be based on the individual needs of the patient.
Treatment services in the IOP will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. A licensed physician/psychiatrist will facilitate and/or supervise all medical procedures, including but not limited to admission, discharge, and transfer orders, medication evaluation and management, interpretation of laboratory results, physicals, emergency medical conditions, etc.
Program Components
- Assessments - determine the appropriate level of care needed
- Group Therapy (Primary modality of treatment) - includes insight-oriented group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoeducational groups, family therapy, expressive therapy,
medication group and education
- Relapse Prevention - a focused approach anchored in the 12-step-tradition of AA/NA
- Should a need for individual counseling be identified, referrals will be made.
Scope of Services
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is provided to meet the needs of patients who do not meet criteria for a more restrictive level of care (e.g., inpatient, partial hospitalization) but need more structure than individual counseling/therapy or informal meeting attendance provides
- IOP will be available for anyone willing to engage in and complete the assessment process regardless of the origin of the referral
- Patients may "Step down" after detox, inpatient, or day hospital. Patients may also engage directly into the program having had no prior treatment
- Sessions include group therapy and educational programming. Education may consist of video presentations, lectures and group discussions
- Most patients are encouraged to attend a recovery support group to obtain and maintain a sponsor, thereby working a 12-step program. IOP sessions are not AA/NA meetings, although AA/NA topics are often discussed
- Adult family members and significant others are encouraged to attend family group sessions at no additional cost
