The therapeutic approaches of the Trauma-Based Disorders Program vary according to individual needs; however, a Trauma Stabilization Group is provided for all patients upon admission. This group teaches skills that facilitate emotional regulation, grounding, distress tolerance, relaxation, and safety. Patients are also assisted in accessing internal resources and strengths which allow completing recovery in a safe and empowering manner.
A Trauma Resolution Group is offered for those patients who have attained some level of stabilization and need to work directly on a particular aspect of their trauma or grief. The goal of this group is for the survivor to process traumatic events in order to reduce and restructure core beliefs related to the trauma.
Other Groups Include:
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to teach emotional regulation tools and distress tolerance
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help restructure negative and destructive thinking patterns
Trauma and Addictions Program (TAP) to help understand and manage dysfunctional coping mechanisms including substance abuse, eating disorders, sexual addiction and acting out, self-harm behaviors, and any other behavior interfering with healthy functioning
Psychodrama Group to utilize role play to help release feelings related to unresolved issues from the past
Art Therapy to assist with identification and healthy expression of feelings
Topics Groups to include psycho-education and discussion of a variety of topics including boundaries, grief, shame, anger management, self-esteem, body image, and sexual and relational healing
The Two Rivers Trauma-based Disorders Program includes acute inpatient care and a partial day program that patients can attend while integrating back into society. |
